This my experience as a patient at dr.Boskosky Office I been knowing Dr. John Boskosky since 1990 when I injured my left eye and he has been my Dr.every since I think he is the best that I know I would send my family and friends to him for sure I could see much better I don't fall any more use my drops like I am supposed to I feel in a year I will be better in my life God is everything to me with him and Dr.John Boskosky things will work out during my visit yesterday I could see much better around me and I could see the Dr.s face much more clearly I do suffer from Allergies and it do affect my eyes as well nobody could get me to say something bad about Dr. Boskosky because he out weights them all I pray that God keeps him on this earth

Parking difficult,. Front office staff, caring and welcoming! Nancy whom did initial processing and test was excellent but focused on task and lacking just a little personal connection. Dr. Sara J made me feel comfortable but the bright light directly into my dilated eyes physically hurt (7 on pain scale), I wanted to jump out of the chair. She handled it well as could be. Thank you for the overall good initial visit.

Dr Bokosky’s ophthalmological knowledge, operational skills, and professional manner/listening are all absolutely the tops. The staff is young and courteous. My annual checkup takes 2 full hours from my appointment time to walking out the door. My wait from my appointment time to start of the checkup was 35 minutes, and I was there 15 minutes early - a 50 minute wait. This wait time is the usual. He was able to reassure me that my overly thick corneas contribute to the high reading, that my eye pressure is normal, and that I'm not more likely to get glaucoma because of it. I switched health care plans so I could be followed by Dr. Bokosky. He provides great follow-up care yearly for a surgery 2 years ago when Dr. Bokosky replaced a lens from a previous cataract surgery by another provider. I had very poor vision from initial surgery in which a wrong lens was placed in my eye. He actually removed one of my cataracts too although cataract removal is now being handled by Dr Bokovsky who took care of my second one. 8/15/2024 I wanted to update my review to correct a couple things that I don't think I made clear in my initial review: My mom no longer has cataracts in her right eye - Dr. Sheils was able to remove them, even though it was a very complicated case (Dr Sheils did not do the surgery for her left eye as she did not believe it would benefit her). In addition, my mom also has a rare hyper-exfoliative disease that I can't remember the name of, AND she is 94 years old!! My mom does not need glasses or ANYTHING now - and she continues to see better than I do!! I am so grateful that we took a chance on Dr. Sheils! My mom's other eye Dr refused to do cataract surgery on my mom, because her case was so complicated, and because of her age - but he gave us no options - just told us there was nothing he could do for her!!!! I had heard great things about another Dr, at the same practice at Eye Care of San Diego but he was booked up and my mom was declining FAST! She was losing her spirit (and kind of her mind), because she couldn't see AT ALL, and needed help to the bathroom, getting dressed, eating, EVERYTHING. It literally is like the clock has turned back 20 years for her! Dr. Sheils also possesses a level of integrity that rare these days. She could have performed surgery on my mom's left eye knowing it would't have helped - but she didn't - she was honest and straightforward about everything. And she didn't give us false hope about the results we should expect for the eye she did do the surgery on! THAT is rare these days. I was so surprised that my mom's vision was even restored at all (it was so non existent!). And now it's better than it's EVER BEEN! She had worn glasses her whole life, and she doesn't need them now! If you have an elderly parent, or if you know anyone with cataracts, glaucoma, or other eye diseases and/or ailments (or if that's your situation), I strongly (and enthusiastically) encourage you to make an appointment with Dr Sheils, and see what miracles she can perform for you or your loved ones! I had Dr Morton fix my right eye excess tearing, he also fixed the left eye too. After the surgery, both eyes were puffy and bloodshot but no pain. The swelling went down in several weeks. I'm writing this review as I weep, with the utmost feeling of gratitude (and amazement) to God and to my mom's eye surgeon (glaucoma and cataract specialist), DR CATHERINE SHEILS. My mom is 94, has very dense cataracts in both eyes and advanced glaucoma, and has had declining vision the last few years. The last 6 months she has lost pretty much 100% of her vision. So much so that she was unable to discern night from day. She could not see a thing, colors, NOTHING - until yesterday around noon. It's such a dramatic and glorious result that it's really taken me by surprise. My mom probably now sees better than I do! I (we) were not expecting this. I was hoping that maybe she'd be able to see shapes again, or possibly be able to see some color, or even just see the difference between night and day, and THAT would have been amazing. But to have her VISION COMPLETELY RESTORED is absolutely unexpected. Dr Sheils said my mom's case was very complex, with a rare disorder in her eye. And her surgery was very long compared to most cataract removal surgeries. Dr Sheils is a Magna Cum Laude Harvard Graduate, and clearly really "knows her stuff." She's been educated beyond most in her field on all the latest innovations and surgical techniques. She's clearly a very talented and brilliant woman. She's also been very easy to communicate with (which is difficult to find in a doctor these days). She's very patient with all my questions and has a sweet, humble spirit too. The girls in the office are also very nice and helpful. We saw Dr Sheils initially in the Sorrento Valley office, but have also been to the Hillcrest office. I'm just so impressed with Dr Sheils. She's given me my mom back, and returned her to where she was 15 years ago (both visually and physically), in an afternoon! My mom was aging rapidly and I was desperately worried she was going to "give up" before long. I can't imagine being completely blind. It's absolutely mind-blowing that she can even see at all, let alone read, watch tv, walk by herself, etc etc... WITHOUT GLASSES! My mom and I find ourselves giggling with delight the past 24 hours, "MOM, you can SEE!!!" He always provides very clear and concise evaluations. The issue folks have is that the waiting time averages one hour after your appointment time. Not ideal. So if you can afford the extra wait and plan accordingly-I still recommend Dr Bokosky. Staff is also very talented and helpful…There are occasional hiccups, as they have a lot of patients.. I think your vision is worth the best care, talent, and experience, despite the extra waiting time. I have had 2 appointments with ECSAD in 2 weeks. Karla was super nice and accommodating to schedule me in. I highly recommend making appointments as early in the morning as possible, thereby avoiding backups that happen over time in any medical office. Kind of like taking the first flight out of SD in the morning to avoid delays.Staff is great, very professional. Again, mornings are best as everyone is in a better mood than at 4 pm. Heavy eyelids run in my family so I was familiar with the surgery and knew I would be undergoing a blepharoplasty at some point. His staff is too busy to coddle patients because they're trying to deliver detailed instructions patients need to know and can do for themselves. Let's start with the facility itself - it looks to be a super cool, large, home that was possibly transformed into a medical facility. Very cozy and gorgeous. Even has a nice patio with a fountain in the back. The staff is juggling between hundreds of patients, but they do so with great disposition - ESPECIALLY ANA - who is a super star. One may get a bit nervous have surgery done around their eyes. I was. Dr Morton and his staff were AWESOME! Super friendly and professional. They made me feel very at ease. When he was working on me I felt no pain and was made very comfortable. All went great and I still did not have much pain when I got home. The next day I felt no pain at all and was very surprised at that. Healing has gone well and I am already happy with the results even though I still have some swelling. Opthalmologist Dr. Bokosky and his team are outstanding at what he/they do. Clearly he loves what he does, and therefore he’s excellent at his eye surgery and eye care of his many patients. It was our experience that he showed great compassion, and was thorough in analyzing and explaining my wife’s problem, and ultimately caring enough to resolve a problem that another ophthalmologist in another practice had cavalierly dismissed as non-existent. That eye surgeon who had performed my wife’s cataract operations had left a suture in one of her eyes, making her eyesight not better but much worse, blurry and even painful thereafter. Can you just imagine how such a reality could spiral down into despair? Fortunately, our Optometrist recognized the problem, so referred us to Dr. Bokosky, whose great skill managed to remove the suture, granting my wife the perfect vision she ultimately sought. To her, Dr. Bokosky is a miracle worker, and we now wish we had chosen to be his patient from the beginning. His office is extremely busy with many staff but we found each one welcoming, efficient and, caring. And yes, his office is full of patients, but bottom line, our experience is that it’s well worth it to be a patient patient! I can't say enough about how amazing the service was here. My mom had eye surgery to fix her droopy eye lids. It was affecting her eye sight so it needed to get done. Her appt was super early at 6:30am. My mom was pretty nervous because they were putting her under full anesthesia. Right when we walked in the door Keyanna greeted us with this warm and welcoming tone that really relaxed my mom and I. She walked us through the steps calmly and gave us a tour of the facility. Totaly sweet and nice. After that Colleen came over and took my mom to the surgery room. She explained what was going to be done and what time to come back. I walked to breakfast and came back and sure enough, they were done 2 minutes after the time she told me. After the procedure she explained the after care and helped me put my mom in the car. I have been a patient of Dr.B's for 10 years and he literally saved my eye. He is a typical surgeon, always in a hurry, no time, but I get along really well with him. I was seen on a Friday morning, diagnosed, had my surgery scheduled, and went through the pre-op procedure in one visit. Four days later the surgery was complete, and my eye problem had been rectified with zero discomfort or side effects. The best in ophthalmology work here. I came in without an appointment, 20/50 vision , due to a horrible eye infection and was still treated with the utmost care and importance. I have an awful eye infection that got out of control cuz I went to the wrong people before I came here. Anyway, The front desk girls are friendly as can be. Charlie took me into the exam room after only 10 mins of waiting in the waiting room. I was very upset about my eye infection and he was very understanding. Everyone is great here. Dr vasile came in with her warm smile and her assistant Kathy was so on top of things, promptly took notes down as Dr. Vasile assessed my situation. Very intelligent yet humble doctor. I went to Eye Care of San Diego for a second opinion on an eye condition. I connected with Dr. Christiana Vasile Who gave me a very comprehensive Eye examination. She recognized that I had a serious viral infection. She turned me over to Dr. John Bokosky for treatment. I credit this team of doctors for saving the vision in my right eye. I was referred to Eye Care of San Diego by my primary physician in January of 2016. By the 3rd of May, I had undergone 2 cataract surgeries performed by Dr. John Bokosky and his wonderful team of assistants. I don't know what I would have done without this team! I had an ongoing swelling under my right eye for over six months that my dr kept saying was allergies. I didn't agree, so when I was told to come here I was expecting the same, but instead I finally had someone listen and agree it wasn't allergies. Dr. Asa Morton was amazing. He felt a lump in the swelling and agreed it needed to be biopsied and so we scheduled that right away. It ended up being a rare autoimmune disease. But the thing that's crazy is that I had seen well over 15 Drs in the past two years who all told me the same thing, if it hadn't been for Dr Morton I wouldn't have an answer and this could have gotten a lot worse. Even now he continues to oversee my eye Care and is always thinking past today to try to make it better. I never walked out feeling like he didn't care or didn't do anything. He's not going to spend the day chatting to you about the prom, but I'm not there for that. I'm there for a professional opinion and care and that's what he does and he does it very well. Dr. Morton and his staff are the most caring and professional people I have ever met in the healthcare industry. I suffered an eye injuring over the weekend that could not be fixed by the emergency room staff. They sowed me up the best they could and set up and appointment for me first the thing Monday morning with Dr. Morton. He had me in the operating room that afternoon. I had most of my right eyelid torn off and I was devastated about how I was going to look. I will never forget, one of Dr. Morton's assistants looked at me and said "don't worry, Dr. Morton is an artist. You wouldn't believe some of the injuries I've seen him fix!" From that point on, I was totally relaxed, 3 procedures and 1 year later, you can't even tell I ever had an eye injury. Dr. Morton and his staff are the best in the business and they truly care about you and the care they provide. I am a physician. I needed surgery for a cataract. I asked several ophthalmologists that I know who they'd recommend. They both told me "Dr. Bokowsky". So, I set up an appointment. I found both the doctor and his staff to be professional at all times, very efficient, knowledgeable and courteous. A few days ago I had my surgery. It was quick and painless. The professionals at Eye Care of San Diego must be taking notice of these reviews. Why may you ask? Because my experiences at this practice in the past month were completely satisfying.I was seen by Dr. Nickolet Boermans O.D. for my eye exam. I expressed a desire to alter the lasik surgery I had done many years prior. She concluded the exam and then scheduled a subsequent appointment with Dr. John Bokosky. She was very pleasant thorough.Dr. Bokosky told me that he could make improvements, but in his experience, I might find that trying the vision change utilizing a wearable contact prior to surgery could alter my decision. Obviously, he was more interested in my satisfaction than making his fortune! He then arranged an appointment for me with Charlie Krajewski, their vision coordinator.Charlie placed the contact over my cornea, and asked that I return in a few days. He was incredible nice!I returned again, and Dr. Boermans replaced the contact with another more to my vision preference. She sent me to the optical department.Renee in the optical department spent a good 25 minutes explaining the care of my contact, as well as sitting with me while I learned to correctly insert and remove the lens. Dr Philip Taunton is an excellent doctor. So patient, thorough and willing to work so hard to get the best possible reading of your eyes. I love Dr. Taunton because I feel he has so much integrity and will always do what is best for my eye health.I recently had an eye emergency and was seen within 40 minutes (as soon as I could drive there), which makes me feel incredibly good that the office was so VERY accommodating. I was seen by a new doctor to the office, Dr. Christiana Vasile and she was amazingly thorough in her exam. I have a complicated eye case and have been to many, many eye doctors in my lifetime . . . trust me that she is excellent in her work of taking care of your eyes.This really is an excellent facility and if it wasn't, I wouldn't continue to go there. First, I have to say Dr. Morton has taken good care of the few eye issues I've had. The major one being Basal Cell skin cancer in my lower left eye lid. A Dermatologist did the cancer removal surgery, and the next day Dr. Morton did the reconstruction. The downside to this procedure was the possibility of a skin graft in the reconstruction phase, resulting in the eye being sewn shut for 3-4 weeks...something I was not looking forward to. Fortunately Dr. Morton worked his magic, he was able to do the reconstruction without a skin graft....I was one happy man when he was done!Understand, this was the 5th skin cancer surgery (the others were on my nose and did require skin graft surgery) in 4 months. By this time I was numb and not looking forward to another series of surgeries with pre and post op visits. However Dr. Morton's office staff are excellent, they made me laugh, they understood I'd been through a lot and made me feel right at home....trust me this makes a huge difference. Not all offices are like this....Bottom line I'm grateful, Dr. Morton did a good job and my eye was not sewn shut...I love his staff, they ROCK!I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Morton and Eye Care, they've always taken good care of me.....Patient Submitted Review

I had several skin tags all over my eye and one very large one that was obscuring my vision. I had a great experience with Dr. Morton. It was easy to get an appointment, his staff sent me out the forms ahead of time so I didn't have to fill out stuff on a clipboard which always irritates me, I was seen on time and the procedure was done well. I went to Dr. Morton for drooping eyelids. When he examined me I also decided to do a lower lift. Dr. Morton was excellent! After 6 months I returned for a follow up and we decided to make the upper eyelids more even. When I first went to him, both my eyelids were very uneven. After the second (and very fast) surgery, I have excellent results. My upper eyelids are even and my friends have told me how rested I look due to my lower lids. I suffered with a blocked tear duct for 6 years and had been misdiagnosed by several docs to the point where I couldnt see out of that eye. I saw Dr Chopin last month because of referral from my regular Opthamologist. I was impressed with his knowledge AND his thoroughness. Dr Chopin spent a lot of time with me and patiently answered my questions. He had a GREAT bedside manner as far as I am concerned . After years of wearing glasses / contacts, I decided to research LASIK. Doctor Bokosky and his staff worked with me to assess my situation, discuss my options and ultimately perform the procedure. It all went extremely smoothly. The staff was great, both knowledgeable and pleasant. My measurements were double- and triple-checked, giving me confindence that things were being done correctly. During the procedure, Doctor Bokosky and his team explained everything to me along the way, and checked with me frequently to make sure I was comfortable. His team went the extra mile, giving me a goodie bag on the way out the door and calling me that evening to see how I was feeling. Dr. Morton operated on me over 17 years ago for a severe facial injury involving the eye and lacrimal duct. He flew in and did this work in the middle of the night on an emergency basis. I was lucky enough to see Dr. Ciuffredda, who is one of the best eye doctors I have ever had! I have also seen Dr. Taunton on occasion and can say that both of them we wonderful. I have bought about 4 pairs of eyeglasses, contacts and 2 pairs of sunglasses from Eye Care of San Diego in the past year or two that I have been going there and I have been extremely happy with every purchase. I am a law student and live out-of-state and they are very good about getting me appointments when I am home for a short time and sending my glasses and contacts when needed. Most Dr.'s do not cater like this which is why it I think I am so happy with them, they make it easy to see! What is also nice is how many designer frames they have. I am a little bit of a fashionista and hate how most optometrist offices do not have a wide variety of glasses and sunglasses, especially when you need a special prescription. I will continue to go back to Eye Care of San Diego for all of my eye care needs. Also, in terms of parking, it's no mall lot but it is a medical office, so I wasn't expecting a giant garage! I have had a different experience than some of the people who have left bad reviews, but I also saw Dr. Asa Morton, so maybe that's the difference. Dr. Morton's staff was friendly and professional, and the wait was very short. Dr Morton is professional and very nice and I feel he listened to what I was saying which some doctors don't do very well. Parking is an issue sometimes, but it seems to be a problem almost everywhere I go... welcome to the city! I waited a few minutes in their parking lot and someone came out in a minute or two, so I had a spot quickly and wasn't even late. I LOVE the courtyard! It's such a nice, peaceful place to wait for the doctor! Want proof of a good experience? I would recommend Dr. Morton to my friends and family! I can't speak about the eye part of the clinic, as I always went in the back bungalow to see Dr. Asa Morton. Dr. Morton did an amazing job with my cosmetic surgery. I looked "refreshed" afterwards, but not radically different, which is what I wanted. I was very happy with the outcome. I always found his staff to be very friendly. I had to wait a little bit sometimes, but not too long. He spent a lot of time understanding what I thought my facial issues were, and explained the proposed procedure in detail. Okay guys, in a perfect world we would all travel about with our own private parking spots, but since that is not the case...I think it's extremely unfair to ding a business because of parking. Wake up kids the problem is everywhere which means that we just need to make time in our schedules to allot for this potential issue. I was referred to Dr. Bokosky by my opthamologist. My cornea was on the verge of rupturing. I called in the morning to be seen and they worked me in that afternoon. He wants his patients to look "refreshed" so that people will say, "You look great!" as opposed to "What did you do?" I had a wonderful appointment with Dr. Phil Taunton. I found his bedside manner, meaning his explaination of the care my eyes needed, to be wonderful. I dont believe one could ask for better education and care from a doctor. I am shocked that someone would say those terrible things about him, I believe this patient must have 'other' issues in order to write such a long review. People lead with their weakness usually. The office is in a beautiful house in Hillcrest, not a sterile medical office building, which is part of its charm. Although the waiting room is usually crowded, it is because of the high quality of care provided by all who work there, and the most I have ever had to wait was twenty minutes. Regard Philip Taunton, O.D., he has been my optometrist, and my wife's and children's, for 15 years. Dr. Taunton is not only a gentleman, but exceedingly bright, intelligent, competent, kind, and knowledgeable. I have always observed Dr. Taunton to maintain the highest level of hygiene and to wash his hands and wipe down his equipment with disinfectant before he examined me. Dr. Taunton has an amazing intuitive and empathetic ability to "see" what you are seeing during a refraction. As the result of Dr. Taunton's guidance, consultation, and refraction skills following my recent bilateral cataract extraction and intraocular lens implants performed by Dr. Bokosky, I am now seeing 20/20 uncorrected in both eyes with my Acrysof toric lenses. Dr. John is well-qualified to be in his chosen profession. I am fully satisfied with his level of expertise and experience. I visit once a year to have my eyes examined for Diabetes Type 2 damage.
